If you want to get outside…
DO: Grab a bike and follow the 18-mile long Mount Vernon Trail from Theodore Roosevelt Island to George Washington’s Estate located at Mount Vernon. Enjoy some of the best views of the DC monuments around.
SEE: The Pandas at the Smithsonian National Zoo (Bei Bei = Bae Bae)
EAT: Pack a sandwich from Glens Garden Market in Dupont or Shaw—my favorite is the Garden Grinder—and have a picnic lunch at Meridian Hill Park.
DRINK: Enjoy boots of beer in a garden of sunshine at Dacha.
If you want to be relax…
DO: If you’re looking to treat yourself, get pampered at one of DC’s best spas. Or, if you’re looking for something more low-key, grab a book and head over to Kogod Courtyard in the National Portrait Gallery.
SEE: A movie at West End Cinema.
EAT: Try the Roasted Seasonal Vegetable Bowl from The Potter’s House and take some time to peruse the book selection with a coffee in hand.
DRINK: Sip a glass of wine at while nomming on some charcuterie at Cork.
If you want to try something new…
DO: Take a tour at one of the local winery, cidery, or brewery. There are tons in the DMV area and most have tasting rooms, tours, and stores. You can find a comprehensive list of area breweries, wineries, cideries, and distilleries, along with their locations, here.
SEE: A show at one of DC’s live music venues. Check out an artist you’ve never heard of before and take advantage of the District’s music scene.
